Foundation Agreement of the Moldovan Press Council The Agreement concerns the foundation by 6 associations (institutions) of the Moldovan Press Council as an independent self-regulatory entity of the Moldovan press.

The Press Council is an entity independent from the public administration, politics, business, and other stakeholders, which contributes to holding the media accountable to its consumers by amicably settling disputes arising between print media and the readers, promoting quality journalism and observance of ethical journalism principles by publications, news agencies and informational portals.

Regulation on the Selection of the Moldovan Press Council Members (in Romanian)

The Press Council is a representative entity consisting of 9 members, including 4 members hat represent the journalistic environment (out of which 2 members represent the regional publications, including one – the publications of the autonomous territorial-administrative unit Gagauz Yeri), and 5 members that represent the media consumers.

A Study of Print Press Opinions on the Timeliness to Establish a Press Council as a Self-Regulatory Mechanism

The research was carried out within September 26 - October 24, 2008. In order for the study to be relevant 5 publishers, 15 editors and 20 journalists of national and local Moldovan newspapers were interviewed.
